Human Services

The Human Services Department provides a variety of services aimed at meeting the human service needs of Windham residents in order to promote a maximum quality of life.

Call during normal working hours for information regarding any program listed below. Emergencies at other times should be directed to the Willimantic Police Department.

Services Provided

  • School Readiness and Child Day Care Grant Program
    • Full-day, full-year or part-day, school-year programs are available for three and four year old children. This program is available to residents of all income levels.
  • Information and Referral
  • Fee Waivers and Reductions
    • The Human Services Department processes applications for Fee Waivers or Reductions for a variety of services, consistent with Town ordinance.
  • Shelter Services
    • Emergency shelter referral and transport, and shelter management during disasters.
  • Miscellaneous Services
    • Coordination of town services with Community Agencies, Information and Referral, and work with other town initiatives, including:
    • School Readiness Council, Greater Windham Ten Year Plan to End Homelesss, and the Windham Housing Partnership.
