The WPCF is located at 2 Main Street, Willimantic, adjacent to Recreation Park. Presently, the average daily flow to the WPCF is 2-3 MGD. In addition to this piped in flow, the WPCF accepts up to 800,000 gallons per month of septage from unsewered towns of the region. It has been designated as a regional septage receiving facility since 1998. The WPCA is now exploring the feasibility of becoming a regional F.O.G. (Fats, Oils, & Grease) acceptance facility. With the existing plant equipment approximately 2-300,000 gallons of grease are treated per month.
In the event of a sewer back-up or blockage, you can contact the Wastewater Treatment Plant Staff 7 days per week, 24 hours per day. On Mondays through Fridays between 7:00 AM and 3 PM, call 860-465-3078. All other hours, please call 1-860-208-2496, and enter your phone number. Someone will call you back within 10 (ten) minutes. Please contact the Sewer Personnel as soon as you notice something is wrong. This service is provided free of charge. Prompt notification will result in a more timely repair of the problem. If the blockage is in the home owners lateral, the Sewer Department personnel will verify it is the responsibility of the homeowner to correct.
Please do not put any grease into your drains or toilets. This will contribute to creating sewer blockages, and also the clogging of your drain pipes. Thank you for you assistance and cooperation.
